📢 About the Event
On 18 February 2026, the UNESCO Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL), in collaboration with Huawei, Associate Member of the Global Alliance for Literacy (GAL), will officially launch a new global, free, multi-lingual course aimed at strengthening the digital skills of literacy educators worldwide.
This initiative responds to the urgent need for digital transformation in adult learning and education, especially in low-resource, remote and crisis-affected settings.
The course is:
  1. ✅ Free and Open Access
  2. ✅ Available in 4 Languages
  3. ✅ Hosted on the UIL Learning Hub
  4. ✅ Certificate-Based
🎯 Why This Matters
Literacy educators are central to inclusive and equitable education systems. However, they often face:
  1. Limited access to professional development
  2. Weak policy recognition
  3. Inadequate digital tools and infrastructure
  4. Insufficient institutional support
Grounded in UNESCO’s global frameworks including:
  1. UNESCO’s Recommendation on Adult Learning and Education (RALE)
  2. The Marrakech Framework for Action
  3. Digital Empowerment for Lifelong Learning and Transformative Andragogy (DELTA) Framework
This course provides a flexible and practical pathway to professionalise literacy educators and enhance the quality of literacy provision globally.
