Importance of TVET for Nepal’s Development

The webinar comes at a time when technical and vocational education is increasingly being seen as a key driver of youth empowerment, employment and inclusive growth. For Nepal, strengthening TVET at the local level can help bridge the gap between education and the labour market by preparing young people with practical skills required by industries, communities and emerging sectors.

Local governments have a crucial role in identifying skill gaps, mobilising training resources, supporting local training centres, and linking skilled youth with employment and livelihood opportunities. Discussions such as this webinar can help build stronger collaboration among policymakers, municipalities, training institutions and development partners.

Expected Participants

The webinar is expected to be useful for local government representatives, education planners, TVET professionals, training providers, youth organisations, employment service providers, development agencies and students interested in vocational education and skill development.

The session will also provide a platform for sharing experiences from municipalities and exploring how TVET can be better integrated into local development planning.

Conclusion

The virtual webinar on TVET at the local level is expected to contribute to an important dialogue on skills transformation in Nepal. By bringing together municipal leaders and education experts, the session aims to encourage practical discussion on how local governments can strengthen technical and vocational education to support employment, youth empowerment and sustainable local development.

As Nepal continues to focus on education reform, employability and inclusive growth, local-level TVET initiatives will remain central to building a skilled and future-ready workforce.
