Bhagwant Mann Lays Foundation Stone of ₹24.5 Crore Government ITI in Fatehgarh Sahnewali, Mansa

In a significant boost to Punjab’s skill development infrastructure, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann laid the foundation stone of a new Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Fatehgarh Sahnewali village, Jhuneer town of Mansa district. The ₹24.5 crore project aims to strengthen vocational education and create employment-oriented opportunities for youth across the region.
5 Acres Land Donated by Village Panchayat
The Chief Minister thanked the Fatehgarh Sahnewali Panchayat for donating five acres of land for the establishment of the ITI. The institute will have an intake capacity of 240 students and will offer training in five high-demand technical trades:
- Electrician
- Electric Vehicle Mechanic
- Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Technician
- Industrial Robotics & Digital Manufacturing Technician
- CNC Machining Technician
The ITI is expected to equip rural youth with industry-relevant technical skills, reducing migration and improving local employability.
Focus on Youth Skill Development and Employment
Addressing a public gathering in Jhuneer, CM Mann emphasized that the new ITI will provide modern technical education closer to home, enabling students from Jhuneer and nearby villages to access quality vocational training without relocating to distant urban centers.
He reiterated that the Punjab Government is committed to strengthening ITIs and vocational institutions as part of a broader strategy to prepare youth for emerging sectors such as electric mobility, automation, and digital manufacturing.
Infrastructure Boost in Sarai Dulgarh Constituency
During his visit, the Chief Minister also announced and highlighted multiple infrastructure and public welfare projects in the Sarai Dulgarh region, including:
- Construction of two bridges over the Ghaggar River worth ₹17.31 crore, benefiting 27 villages by reducing travel distance.
- A steel bridge in Barn village at a cost of ₹5.28 crore.
- A Health & Wellness Clinic in Bhagwanpur Hinga worth ₹55 lakh.
- A Block Public Health Unit in Sarai Dulgarh costing ₹49 lakh with laboratory and conference facilities.
- Upgradation of Sarai Dulgarh Government Hospital into a 100-bed facility.
- A 24.8 km sewerage pipeline project worth ₹14.76 crore.
- Strengthening of electricity grids to ensure improved supply during peak agricultural seasons.
These initiatives are aimed at enhancing healthcare access, transportation connectivity, sanitation infrastructure, and power supply in rural Punjab.
Commitment to Education and Healthcare Reforms
CM Mann highlighted key state initiatives in education and health sectors:
Education Initiatives:
- Establishment of 118 Schools of Eminence across Punjab.
- International teacher training programs in Finland and Singapore.
- Expansion of skill-based education through ITIs and vocational centers.
Healthcare Initiatives:
- Operationalization of 881 “Aam Aadmi Clinics” across the state.
- Launch of Chief Minister Sehat Yojana offering cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh per family.
- Free electricity supply to over 90% of households, including daytime supply for farmers.
The Chief Minister also referenced the recently launched “Meri Rasoi Yojana,” under which quarterly food kits are being distributed to 40 lakh families to strengthen food security.

The event was attended by senior leaders including Manish Sisodia, Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, and Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian.

The establishment of the new Government ITI in Fatehgarh Sahnewali aligns with Punjab’s broader vision of modernizing technical education, strengthening rural infrastructure, and empowering youth with future-ready skills. With emerging trades such as Electric Vehicle Mechanic and Industrial Robotics Technician included in its curriculum, the institute is expected to contribute significantly to Punjab’s industrial and employment landscape.
