Nagpur, May 26, 2026: Indian Institute of Information Technology, Nagpur has reported a significant rise in its campus placement performance, with the BTech Computer Science and Engineering branch recording 100% placements for the academic session 2024–25. The institute also reported notable improvement in highest and average salary packages across key engineering branches.

According to official data released by the institute, students from the Computer Science and Engineering branch secured the highest package of ₹60 lakh per annum, while the average salary package stood at ₹15.41 lakh per annum. The placement outcome marks a major improvement for the institute and reflects growing industry demand for technology talent from emerging institutions.

The Electronics and Communication Engineering branch also posted a strong placement performance, recording 97% placements during the same academic session. ECE students received offers up to ₹42.26 lakh per annum, with the average salary package reported at ₹14.19 lakh per annum.

The latest placement figures show a clear improvement over the 2023–24 academic session. As per data obtained through an RTI application filed by activist Sanjay Thul, the placement rate for CSE stood at 91.09% in 2023–24, while ECE recorded 89% placements.

The highest package for CSE students in 2023–24 was ₹47 lakh per annum, while ECE students secured offers up to ₹20 lakh per annum. In comparison, the 2024–25 results indicate a substantial rise in both placement percentage and salary packages.

The ongoing 2025–26 placement season has also started on a positive note. So far, 30.25% of CSE students and 15.38% of ECE students have secured placements.

In the current placement cycle, the highest package offered to CSE students has reached ₹32.6 lakh per annum, while ECE students have received offers going up to ₹80 lakh per annum. The average salary package for ECE has also increased to ₹19.11 lakh per annum, indicating early signs of strong industry participation.

However, as the 2025–26 placement process is still ongoing, the final placement rate and complete salary statistics may change once the full recruitment cycle is completed.

Alongside placement growth, IIIT-Nagpur has also continued to expand its academic capacity. For the 2025–26 academic year, the institute admitted 619 students against the approved intake of 648 seats.

The institute has also reported progress in reducing faculty vacancies. In 2023–24, 18 out of 53 sanctioned teaching posts were vacant. This number has now declined to eight, reflecting improved faculty availability.

Further strengthening its academic roadmap, the institute’s Board of Governors has approved 47 new faculty positions. Recruitment for these posts is expected to move forward after final approvals from the Union Finance Department and the Ministry of Education.

IIIT-Nagpur was approved by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development in May 2015. The institute initially operated from the campus of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology, Nagpur, before shifting to its permanent 100-acre campus at Waranga near Nagpur.

Over the years, the institute has positioned itself as an important centre for technical education, particularly in computer science, electronics, communication technologies, and emerging digital skills.

The 100% placement achievement in CSE is significant at a time when technology education, employability, and industry-aligned skills remain key priorities for India’s higher education ecosystem. Strong placement outcomes from institutions such as IIIT-Nagpur indicate continued demand for skilled engineering graduates, especially in computer science, electronics, software development, digital systems, and technology-driven roles.

The improvement in average salary packages also highlights the increasing value of industry-relevant technical education and the importance of strengthening institutional capacity through faculty recruitment, academic expansion, and stronger employer engagement.
