Dhanbad: In a significant step toward strengthening youth employability and promoting skill-based livelihoods, the Retail Sales Executive Training Program was formally inaugurated at the auditorium of SSLNT Women’s College, Dhanbad. The programme is being implemented as a joint initiative of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, in collaboration with Kirti Trust.
The initiative aims to provide free vocational training to 250 deserving and talented youth from the region and support their transition into sustainable employment opportunities. The training programme will focus on developing retail sales competencies along with essential employability skills such as communication, personality development and digital literacy.
BCCL Reaffirms Commitment to Skill Development and Social Responsibility
The grand inaugural ceremony was attended by several dignitaries from industry, academia and the development sector. Mr. Murali Krishna Ramaiah, Director (Personnel), BCCL, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ramaiah highlighted the growing importance of skill-based training in today’s employment landscape. He said that the present era demands skills, specialization and practical knowledge, and that academic learning alone is not enough to make young people self-reliant.
He further stated that BCCL has always remained committed to social development through meaningful interventions. Referring to the current batch of 250 trainees, he said the programme is not only focused on imparting employable skills but also on building a strong foundation for the bright future of young people. He also indicated that, if required, an additional 500 youth may be included in the training programme in the future.
Mr. Ramaiah noted that the retail sector is among the fastest-growing industries and offers substantial employment opportunities. He expressed confidence that the partnership between BCCL and Kirti Trust would become a milestone in empowering youth, particularly women, through skill development and employment-oriented training.
Training to Focus on Retail, Communication and Digital Literacy
During the programme, Shrirajesh, Director (Projects), Kirti Trust, delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining the structure, curriculum and future roadmap of the Retail Sales Executive Training Program.
He informed the audience that the training would cover core retail sales competencies and practical job-readiness skills required by the industry. Apart from retail operations and customer-handling skills, trainees will receive focused sessions on communication skills, personality development and digital literacy.
These components are expected to improve the confidence, employability and workplace preparedness of the participants, enabling them to compete for employment opportunities in the growing retail and services sector.
Academic Leaders Emphasise Women Empowerment and Employability
Speaking at the event, Dr. Sharmila Rani, Principal of SSLNT Women’s College, expressed happiness over hosting the inauguration ceremony at the institution. She said that skill development among youth and women is an important pillar in building a stronger, progressive and self-reliant India.
She appreciated the initiative taken by BCCL and Kirti Trust and noted that programmes of this nature can play a vital role in helping young people acquire practical skills and access new livelihood opportunities.
Dr. Ranjana Das, Principal of Guru Nanak College, also addressed the participants and encouraged them to make full use of the training opportunity. She said that education becomes truly meaningful when it enables individuals to stand confidently, earn respect in society and become economically independent.
According to her, the Retail Sales Executive Training Program will help instil confidence, discipline and capability among youth, making them better prepared for employment and professional growth.
Kirti Trust Presents Programme Vision
Earlier, Mr. Rakesh Kumar, President of Kirti Trust, welcomed the guests and presented an overview of the initiative. He assured that Kirti Trust would work with full dedication and commitment to enhance the skills and employability of all 250 trainees enrolled in the programme.
The participants were also introduced to the course structure by the training faculty, including Dr. Purnima Kumari, Sonali Gupta, Pallavi Kumari, Alka Kumari and Sonali Kumari.
The overall coordination of the event was managed by Mr. Ashok Srivastava, Coordinator, Kirti Trust.
Ceremony Begins with Traditional Lamp Lighting and Cultural Performances
The inaugural programme began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp and Ganesh Vandana. This was followed by the National Anthem and a cultural presentation showcasing Jharkhand’s traditional folk dance by students.
The programme concluded with a vibrant dance performance on Vande Mataram, which filled the auditorium with patriotic enthusiasm. The event was anchored by Dr. Akanksha Sharma.
Prof. Vimal Minj and Dr. Dhiraj Mishra of SSLNT College also played an important role in ensuring the smooth organisation and success of the event. The ceremony concluded with a formal vote of thanks on behalf of Kirti Trust.
