Objectives of the Consultancy

The consultant will train and guide the Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) and CSM’s implementation team on achieving Organic Certification under:

  1. National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) - India

  2. National Organic Program (NOP) - USA

Key Goals:

✔ Provide a comprehensive understanding of organic certification requirements
✔ Train FPO members on Internal Control System (ICS) management
✔ Guide participants on record-keeping, inspections, and compliance monitoring
✔ Offer practical insights and case studies for successful certification


Scope of Work

The capacity-building program will cover:
Introduction to Organic Agriculture & Certification Standards
Detailed overview of NPOP & NOP requirements
Roles & Responsibilities of ICS Managers & Inspectors
Documentation & Record-Keeping requirements (physical & digital templates)
Risk Assessment & Compliance Monitoring techniques
Internal Inspections & Non-Conformity Management
Case Studies & Best Practices in ICS Implementation
Action Plan Development for ICS Strengthening & Organic Certification
Monitoring and Troubleshooting Implementation Challenges


Capacity Building Methodology

📌 Face-to-face training sessions for trainers and key staff
📌 Hands-on practical exercises & case studies
📌 Training manuals, handbooks & templates for certification compliance
📌 Remote training & review of implementation progress
📌 Periodic on-site visits during critical certification milestones
📌 Remote support for Year 2 & Year 3 of Organic Certification


Expected Deliverables

📍 Trained implementation team with a solid understanding of Organic Certification & ICS requirements
📍 Established & well-managed ICS for farmer groups
📍 FPO members trained in internal inspections & compliance documentation
📍 Successful completion of the first year of Organic Certification


Qualifications & Technical Expertise Required

🔹 5-10 years of hands-on experience in managing & implementing Organic Certification
🔹 Proven track record in training & establishing ICS & Organic Certification systems
🔹 Knowledgeable about APEDA’s latest Organic Certification requirements
🔹 Field extension service experience with farmers
🔹 Fluency in Telugu (preferred)
🔹 Experience in Organic Certification for Coffee, Spices, & Millets (preferred)
